Its core components include evaporator, compressor, condenser, and expansion valve. During operation, the liquid refrigerant first exchanges heat with the outside air in the evaporator. During this process, the refrigerant absorbs a large amount of heat from the air, transforming from liquid to gas. The liquid refrigerant is throttled and depressurized through an expansion valve, returning to its initial low-pressure liquid state before entering the evaporator again and starting a new cycle. This cycle repeats itself, continuously absorbing heat in the evaporator and releasing heat in the condenser, achieving the transfer and enhancement of heat from the air to the target medium.
It is precisely this clever use of refrigerant phase change to transport heat that enables air source heat pump units to consume only a small amount of electrical energy to drive components such as compressors, and can transport several times more heat than electrical energy, thereby achieving high efficiency and energy conservation.
